The King Center’s ‘Nonviolence in Action’ event seeks to accomplish the following goals:

1) Highlight the use of nonviolent action by groups committed to advancing the cause of equal rights and fair treatment for immigrants;

2) Provide a forum for nonviolent groups to discuss their efforts, learn from the success and/or failure of others, and gain perspective on potential risks associated with nonviolent action;

3) Build relationships and foster collaboration with those devoted to continuing Dr. King‟s work through nonviolent action and advocacy on human rights issues; and

4) Emphasize and draw attention to the continuing use and relevance of nonviolence to contemporary issues and movements.
