GSPHE is hosting a statewide summer conference for students, workers, faculty, and community members to talk about the nature of the budget cuts in our schools and what we can do to stop it.
The conference will be held on July 22nd-24th. More details will be posted ASAP. Please register for the GSPHE Summer Conference HERE!!
The conference will include workshops, panel discussions, and a strategy session for everyone to collectively outline ways to combat the cuts and reach more students across the state. The conference will include an in-depth analysis on the effects of the economic crisis on the university, neoliberal policies and the impact on education, and the global movement to defend education to make it accessible for everyone.
After Governor Deal made massive cuts to the HOPE scholarship, tuition increasing again this 2011 – 2012 school year by 9%, and the Georgia Board of Regents banning undocumented students from attending Georgia research universities, it is clear that education is under attack and that our means of survival is being taken from us.
Please join us at our conference to discuss how we can organize ourselves and work together to stop the cuts!
THEY SAY CUT BACK
WE SAY FIGHT BACK!
